The mission was initiated in response to the results-based evidence from the ACReSAL project, highlighting the importance of engaging with beneficiary communities to evaluate the effectiveness of its initiatives. During the visit, the team aimed to gather insights from community members regarding the solar-powered boreholes constructed as part of the project and their impact on local livelihoods.
Preliminary reports revealed that community members previously faced significant challenges in accessing potable water for both domestic use and irrigation purposes. The mission team engaged directly with residents, who expressed their gratitude for the ACReSAL interventions and requested additional support for ongoing community development.
Ward Head Malam Abdulkadir praised the ACReSAL project, describing its impact as “unmeasurable.” He emphasized the transformative effect of the interventions on the community’s access to water resources.
In addition to the evaluation of the solar-powered boreholes, the mission team spoke with members of a local self-help group that benefited from the 2023 drainage clearance packages, assessing the sustainability of these efforts. Abdulkadir Musa Abdulkadir, a member of the Kurna Asabe Community Development Association, commended the project for providing essential working materials that have significantly improved the sanitary conditions in their communities.
The mission underscores ACReSAL’s commitment to monitoring and enhancing the effectiveness of its interventions, aiming to foster sustained development in beneficiary communities across the region.
