Dr. Dahir M. Hashim Honored with Excellence Leadership Award by Legislative Writers Forum of Nigeria

Kano, Nigeria – The Legislative Writers Forum of Nigeria has honored Dr. Dahir M. Hashim, the Kano State Project Coordinator of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project, with the prestigious "Excellence Leadership Award." This recognition celebrates Dr. Dahir's exceptional efforts in combating climate change and promoting environmental sustainability in Kano State.

Under Dr. Dahir’s exemplary leadership, the Kano Project Management Unit has made remarkable strides, restoring 20,533 hectares of degraded land and planting over 2.3 million trees through both direct seeding methods and seedling plantations. These efforts significantly contribute to the state’s environmental rehabilitation.

The award was presented during a courtesy visit by the forum to the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) office. During the event, Mr. Abraham O., the Organizing Secretary of the forum, praised Dr. Dahir’s unwavering commitment and visionary leadership. He encouraged other stakeholders in Kano and beyond to follow Dr. Dahir’s inspiring example to further advance development in Nigeria.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Dahir expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recognition. He commended the Legislative Writers Forum for its impactful programs that encourage hard work, dedication, and societal development. “This award is not just a personal achievement; it reflects the collective efforts of my team and our partners working tirelessly to combat climate change and improve the livelihoods of our communities,” he stated.

Dr. Dahir’s recognition comes on the heels of the forum’s tradition of honoring individuals, corporate organizations, and community leaders who have excelled in their fields since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999. Mr. Abraham O. further mentioned that the forum’s assessment of the ACReSAL project revealed significant positive impacts in the state, leading to Dr. Dahir’s nomination.

“This award symbolizes our commitment to recognizing those whose efforts significantly contribute to the betterment of our communities. Dr. Dahir’s leadership exemplifies the kind of dedication needed to tackle pressing challenges like climate change and environmental degradation,” Mr. Abraham added.

As communities celebrate this remarkable achievement, both Dr. Dahir and the Legislative Writers Forum emphasized the need for continued collaboration and support in environmental initiatives. This award serves as a reminder of the vital role that leadership and dedication play in fostering sustainable development and resilience within Nigerian communities.
