Kano-ACReSAL Hailed for Successful Reclamation of 21,261 Hectares of Degraded Land

The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) project in Kano has received high praise for successfully reclaiming 21,261 hectares of degraded land throughout the state.

In a letter dated August 30, 2024, Mr. Abdulhamid Umar, the National Project Coordinator for ACReSAL, commended the achievements made under the project’s afforestation initiatives. His letter came in response to an update detailing the significant progress of the Kano-ACReSAL team.

Mr. Umar extended an invitation for a virtual meeting with the Kano-ACReSAL team, where he, along with Project Coordinators from neighboring states and Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) staff, gathered to celebrate this milestone.

The commendation also included words of encouragement directed at Dr. Dahir Muhammad Hashim, Project Coordinator of Kano-ACReSAL, and his dedicated team. Dr. Ibrahim Kabir, the chairman of the Project Coordinators from Bauchi-ACReSAL, and Mrs. Oghale Ruth Erezih, the Drought & Desertification Specialist at FPMU, offered their support and congratulations.

Looking ahead, Kano-ACReSAL aims to restore an additional 3,604 hectares of land in the upcoming month, continuing its commitment to improving the region’s environmental resilience.
