This training aims to facilitate access to the CRF for communities benefiting from the project. The Kano ACReSAL initiative has identified specific communities in the state to pilot CRF activities, utilizing existing Community Based Associations with adjustments to enhance their effectiveness.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Dahiru Muhammad Hashim, the State Project Coordinator, emphasized the Kano State Government’s commitment to improving living conditions for its citizens. He reiterated Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf’s pledge to ensure every opportunity for enhancement is utilized.
“The administration is ready to pilot CRF interventions across various communities in the state, making this sensitization for identified CBAs, community members, and other stakeholders vital for the successful implementation of this initiative,” Dr. Hashim stated. He encouraged participants to take full advantage of this unique opportunity for the benefit of both themselves and the wider community.
The CRF initiative falls under component B of the ACReSAL project, titled “Community Climate Resilience.” This component focuses on enhancing agro-climatic resilience at both community and household levels by fostering locally-adopted sustainable land and water management practices and employing climate-smart agricultural strategies.
The CRF concept is designed to support communities and farmer groups in implementing climate-smart agriculture and building skills for climate-resilient livelihoods. The training represents a significant step towards enhancing community resilience in the face of climate change.
