During the International World Water Day event at Capital City University, Kano, Dr. Dahir Muhammad Hashim, the State Project Coordinator of Kano-ACReSAL, expressed his gratitude for being part of the occasion. He emphasized the significance of World Water Day in light of current global water crises driven by climate change and mismanagement. Dr. Hashim highlighted the objectives of the ACReSAL project, which aims to promote sustainable landscape management practices in Northern Nigeria and enhance climate resilience. He outlined the project’s components, particularly focusing on dry land management and integrated watershed planning.
ACReSAL Equipped GBY Service Providers On GRM Techniques Across Project Affected Communities
The consultancy firm engaged by the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project has arrived in Kano to begin their assignment. In collaboration with the Center for Nonviolence and Gender Advocacy in Nigeria (CENGAIN), the FPMU, alongside the World Bank, is working on mapping service providers to support the implementation of the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) component across project communities.

Join us for an impactful workshop focused on capacity building in land restoration and monitoring technologies. This event, hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) of the ACReSAL Project, will take place at the Center for Dry Land Agriculture, Bayero University Kano, Nigeria.
Kano-ACReSAL trained enumerators for Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) and Registered Individual Farmer Orchard (RIFO) activities.
The training aimed to support project efforts in generating comprehensive data on identified farmers and communities participating in FMNR and RIFO activities. This data will be crucial for documenting total hectares involved and the beneficiaries of the project.
The Kano ACReSAL Team Carried out Community Sensitization at Yanbawa Shelterbelt Rehabilitation in Makoda LGA.
The Kano ACReSAL team conducted a community sensitization session focused on the rehabilitation of the Yanbawa shelterbelt. Dr. Dahir M. Hashim supervised the ongoing project and reassured community members of the ACReSAL Project’s commitment to rehabilitating the 1954 hectares of the shelterbelt. This initiative aims to reduce desertification and land degradation in the area.
