Kano, August 13, 2024 – The Kano state branch of the Africa Climate Resilient Landscapes (ACReSAL) initiative conducted a successful sensitization program for the Gumawa and Kyale communities in the Gabasawa Local Government Area, focusing on the restoration of degraded land and afforestation efforts.
As part of this initiative, significant restoration activities have been undertaken, with 200 hectares currently being restored at the Kyale site through landscape restoration techniques and the establishment of conventional orchards. Additionally, in Gumawa, 154 hectares are dedicated to the conservation of indigenous natural species.
These efforts aim to enhance local biodiversity and improve the ecosystem, promoting sustainable land management practices within the communities.
