The solar-powered boreholes will provide essential water access for irrigation and domestic use, ensuring that farmers can effectively maintain their trees and crops. In addition to the water supply, the project has equipped participants with vital farm inputs and training to enhance agricultural practices within the community.
During the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Dahiru Muhammad Hashim, the State Project Coordinator, urged the benefiting farmers and community members to utilize the investments responsibly and take ownership of the resources provided. “It is imperative that these investments serve their intended purposes and benefit your community,” he stated.
Commending the initiative, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa, the Village Head of Fajewa community, expressed gratitude for Kano-ACReSAL’s continued support. He assured the project team of the community’s commitment to making judicious use of the resources made available through the initiative.
In a related development, Dr. Hashim and project staff inspected the Kafin Chiri nursery in Garko Local Government Area, which has been renovated after years of disrepair. The nursery, now capable of accommodating over 500,000 seedlings of conventional, fruit-bearing, and indigenous tree species, is expected to play a crucial role in reforestation efforts across the region.
