The visit underscored ACReSAL’s ongoing commitment to bolster institutional support for climate-resilient agriculture in Kano State. Provost Prof. M. A. Wailare expressed gratitude for the continued support and previous interventions, including the provision of seedlings to boost the college’s tree planting initiatives.
During the tour, the Commissioner highlighted the vital role of the college in advancing climate-smart agriculture, emphasizing the importance of the proposed greenhouse and solarization projects in addressing climate challenges impacting food production. The inspection aimed to assess the site for the new greenhouse and review existing infrastructure.
The Commissioner disclosed that the greenhouse project would serve as a training hub for students on climate-smart and urban agriculture techniques, while also opening avenues for revenue generation for the college. He assured that the project would be of high quality and announced that beneficiaries of ACReSAL’s agricultural empowerment programs must undergo training and certification at the institution before implementing their projects.
Additionally, the team inspected an existing greenhouse, expressing satisfaction with its condition and emphasizing that expanding greenhouse facilities would significantly boost the college’s capacity to train more students and generate income.
