For years, residents of Bulbula and Gayawa have endured the destructive impacts of erosion—loss of lives, destruction of properties, and children navigating dangerous paths to access education. The project is a direct response to their cries and reflects the governor’s unwavering commitment to community-driven development.
Despite skepticism about the project’s feasibility, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s leadership has turned the vision into reality, reaffirming Kano’s path toward resilience and safety. This initiative is not merely infrastructure; it is a lifesaving intervention that promises long-term relief for affected communities.
The ceremony coincided with the holy month of Ramadan, symbolizing sincere intentions and blessings in service of the people. A strong monitoring team will be established to ensure quality execution, and affected communities will receive appropriate compensation, with approval from the State Executive Council.
This project embodies the principles of the New Kano Vision—a future rooted in progress, inclusivity, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of all residents. The contract, awarded to Habib Engineering at a cost of ₦8,497,595,290.00, will be executed over 715 days, marking a new chapter in Kano’s journey towards sustainable development.
