In a significant step towards its environmental goals, the Kano State Government, through the Kano-ACReSAL project, is taking strides to plant 3 million seedlings across the region. The initiative recently saw State Project Coordinator Dr. Dahir Muhammad Hashim visiting the Mainika Nursery in Gwarzo Local Government Area (LGA) to assess its condition following extensive rehabilitation efforts funded by the project.
The once dilapidated nursery has undergone a remarkable transformation and is now equipped to hold up to 500,000 seedlings, bolstering the state’s capacity for large-scale planting initiatives.
In addition to the nursery inspection, Dr. Hashim also evaluated the ongoing data collection efforts by enumerators in Shanono LGA. This on-site assessment is crucial to ensuring that the objectives of the data collection exercise are being met, which is vital for the success of the broader project.
The Kano-ACReSAL project continues to demonstrate the state government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community development through increased afforestation efforts.
