During the launch, ten community interest groups were each awarded $25,000, designed to empower beneficiaries with the necessary funds to become self-sufficient in their agricultural endeavors. The program targets the registration of community interest groups and farmers’ cooperatives in selected areas, facilitating access to non-interest loans that will enable investments in agricultural ventures.
In his address at the cheque presentation ceremony, Governor Yusuf urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely. He highlighted the administration’s commitment to tackling environmental challenges through various ACReSAL initiatives. The governor also tasked the State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahir Muhammad Hashim, with developing more strategic programs to promote environmental sustainability.
Abdulhamid Umar, the National Project Coordinator for the ACReSAL Project, encouraged beneficiaries to adhere to repayment policies, ensuring that the fund can support more farmers and groups in the future. He emphasized that one of the primary goals of the ACReSAL project is to enhance food security and improve livelihoods, with the CRF serving as a crucial tool to achieve this objective.
The ACReSAL project aims to bolster the livelihoods of farmers and build community resilience to climate change. By providing access to finance, technical support, and training, the initiative seeks to empower beneficiaries to invest in their agricultural ventures, thereby increasing productivity and improving living standards.
The CRF is a key component of the ACReSAL project, designed to create a sustainable funding mechanism that allows for the ongoing support of agricultural initiatives. This revolving fund approach ensures that the benefits extend beyond the initial recipients, fostering long-term improvements in agricultural productivity across the state.
Governor Yusuf’s commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity in Kano State has been widely recognized. By supporting the ACReSAL project and the CRF, he demonstrates a strong dedication to improving the livelihoods of farmers and community members. With the backing of the World Bank, the project is well-positioned to achieve its objectives and make a significant impact on Kano’s agricultural sector.
